Baroe Farm is a working Mohair sheep Farm.
Situated half way between Steytlerville and Wolwefontein, Baroe farm lies in the heartland of the region and is one of the very top producers of prime Angora goats for the mohair industry
During the farm holiday the entire process of farming Angora goats and mohair production can be seen on the farm.
Guests staying in the comfortable guesthouse, which sleeps up to eight, can either cater for themselves as the guesthouse has a fully equipped kitchen, or can join the Hobson family for Gay's excellent meals and avail themselves of the facilities of the Baroe homestead.
These include an all weather tennis court and a lovely shaded garden.
The vista from the homestead's enormous stoep is spectacular and what better way to end a full day than to relax and watch a glorious Karoo sunset.
In the evenings a firm favorite amongst guests is to sing favourite songs with Gay at the piano.
The 7000 hectare farm provides ample opportunity to guests to enjoy the freedom of the farm, going on game-viewing drives, camping, bird-watching and picnics in the clean Karoo air.
Various sorts of game can be found, ranging from Kudu to Klipspringers. Monkeys abound in the hills - their antics always popular amongst younger guests.
Hunting excursions are arranged upon request.
Bird watchers can spend days studying the abundant bird species. A particular treat is a nesting pair of black eagles on the farm.
These magnificent birds are extremely rare and their presence is certainly a bonus for visiting bird watchers.
The farm offers ample scenic spots for picnics and overnight camping (no facilities) in the veld.
